re: (meteorobs) Oct. 15 Observations
Bob,
It is nice to see that the goal of the NAMN to increase coverage by
observers in North America is slowly but surely being accomplished. While
many of us are new and still in the depths of the learning curve, we are
acquiring the skills that should lead to a long term improvement in
reliable NA obsevations. Of course, the 3000 mile baseline kind of cuts
down on the value of two station observations (It'd have to be a heck of a
meteor for both coasts to see it :-), we have had occasions where there
have been up to 10 continuous observation hours in North America. And
having 4 or more active observing sites on the east coast gives us a
fighting chance of beating the weather enough to observe the same nights as
those in the land of perpetually clear skies (You and George) and other CA
observers (Ron), and have this happen more than once in a while. So I think
George and Mark deserve some thanks for starting that ball rolling, and to
you for reinvigorating the ALPO Meteor Section. This is becoming and
exciting time, and I have to say, those warm fuzzy feelings come in handy
on those chilly nights!

Wayne & Kevin,
Glad to hear that you were also out scanning the skies. I would be very
interested in your results. Lets hope during the coming months we can
have more simultaneous observations (at least George was watching the
same time as you). I will be out earlier tonight since I do not have to
work tomorrow.
