LaRue,
Welcome...to keep one's night vision intact is indeed important. What most
observers use is a small penlight with a red filter. Or an LED light that
emits a red colored light. Short usage while not looking directly at the
light bulb helps keep intact most of one's night vision. During major
showers, some people record their data onto portable tape recorders without
using a light at all. And others even develop a system to record their
written data onto a roll of paper. They just write blindly their data and
spool out a little paper as they go. There is a method to the madness
really.
