"UT" stands for "Universal Time". It's (PRETTY much) the same as "Greenwich Mean
Time" or military "Zulu Time".
Therefore, UT is equal EST + 5 (i.e., EDT + 4, or PST + 8, etc, etc).
BTW, all this stuff is covered in some of the "introduction to astronomy" FAQs
and Web sites out there. If you have Web access, try a search for "sidereal".
