The flow across the nation will flatten with little change in the overall
circulation in the northeast Pacific. Strong height anomalies developing south
of Greenland will put the pattern across North America into a blocking pattern.
The pattern will deamplify as a trough along the East coast lifts out and a
ridge in the central U.S. flattens. A ridge will build into the region tonight
into Tuesday. A series of western waves will move east into the Plains Tuesday
resulting in widespread scattered precipitation spreading east into the
mid-Atlantic. This will keep conditions unsettled. A weak frontal boundary
will set up across the mid-Atlantic region Tuesday night. this will cause light
precipitation resulting in snow inland and rain along the coast. Precipitation
will continue on Wednesday but with a front approaching from the north will gain
bring snow to inland areas and rain along the coast. Next system will move
across the upper Midwest Thursday and Friday and will eventually transfers its
energy to the Carolinas by Saturday setting the stage for another significant
storm along the East coast. The thinking is that it will be cold enough inland
and across New England with rain along the coast Saturday.
