This year, the Leonid maximum was clouded out from Norway. But last year,
we had an similar incident to what Sirko describes.

The best Norwegian Leonid in 1995 had a terminal flash of about -10. It left
a train that was visible for some 18-19 minutes naked eye. Lm ~6.2. It was
seen visually by three observing groups spaced about 200 km apart.

The train can been seen for about 70 minutes photographically. I used a
slide film (Fuji 400 I think) on a 21mm f/2.0, and I can see the train
on 9 different exposures. The train is reddish.

The 10th and 11th exposure would probably also have shown the train, but
the sky background is over-exposed. So I can only follow it for 9 exposures.

The meteor appeared near Algieba in Leo. But after 70 minutes, the train
has drifted way down to Monoceros...

The train is visible for about 10 minutes on three T-Max 800 exposures
on a 50mm f/1.8 lens. (T-Max is insensitive to red, isn't it? I also
suspect this film was out of date.)

Digitized photos can be found on the pages of the Norwegian Meteor Section
   http://www.stud.ntnu.no/~ltheen/meteor/index.html (probably works)
   http://www.stud.unit.no/~ltheen/meteor/index.html (may not work)
select "Photographic reults" or something. The train can only be seen for
about 5 exposures in the digitized version.

All the best,
Trond
