RE: (meteorobs) Question

Jonathan, that is a time when a tape recorder would be essential. If you
talk real fast, you can get a lot of information in. During a truely great
storm, with rates even higher than that, some information might have to be
deleted in order to fit it all in, but that would be very rare. It is good
to think about that now, so if that should occur for the Leonids in 1998 or
1999 we will be prepared. I would expect that during October of 1998, we
will be distributing special instructions for handling that situation in
the manner that the IMO suggests. Let's hope that rates are that high and
we have to worry about it. Wouldn't that be fun!!!

YES IT WOULD! My parents, though would probably shoot and kill the buzzer.
They hate the buzzer, since it is kind of loud and annoying. I bought a
magnetic buzzer at Radio Shack, which was supposed to be more 'enjoyable'(for
lack of a better word). My parents hate it even more, because it's tone
frequency it a lot higher! I'm going to try to put some resistors in the
circuit to make it a little quiter. Since it takes approx. 50 seconds for the
computer to record everything, I thought up of a senario. Which is better:
Just count What kind of meteor it was(shower or sporadic), when it occured,
and what the mag was, or miss 30-60% of the meteors but record all the
information? Perhaps I'll have a pocket tape-recorder by then(a good chance,
because 1998 I'm going to get my first job)....
