(meteorobs) 1996 Geminid Max activity
George,
The IMO Calendar says 1996 Dec 13, 16h UT for the Geminids. This is not quite
true as it assumes a sollong=262.0. But a look at the average ZHR profile shows
that it is rather sollong=262.2 corresponding to 21h UT. So it's not too much
off. Anyway, we do not have data from Asia (except the groupwise ZHRs sent to
IMO-news some weeks ago). So we cannot tell if the actual maximum was earlier
than 23h UT. The Japanese ZHRs actually indicate a maximum at 16h UT which would
hit the 'prediction' exactly.
