I was driving home this afternoon about 5:30, heading East on Rt.17,
Sullivan County, NY - Saw a HUGE meteor-like object going N-S,
white/greenish "head", with a tail about 4-5 inches long. No one I know saw
this & people kept telling me I was nuts. I got on the net & found The
Astronomy Club chat room. There, I met Gloryskys, who took me seriously.
Apparently, several other people did see this as well, one in NJ, one in MI.
Gloryskys said I should report it to you. I'd love to discuss it, or give
you more details if you'd like. I just don't want to take up your time if it
isn't important. I'm just trying to find out what it was. This thing was
about 4 cms. wide, white/green at the front or "head", fading to an orange by
the end of the tail. I can't say how happy I was to have found Gloryskys. I
thought I was the only one who saw this. If you can shed some light on what
this was, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks for you time.
