In a french collective book directed by Patrick Martinez, there is a small
paragraph about collecting micro meteorites. I'll try to translate at my
best :
"In non polluted areas, one can collect, with a magnet, small iron
particules which are remainings of meteorites that burnt in the atmosphere.
To do that, you must dry up rain water and then pass over what is remaining
a small magnet with a microscope glass in between....
.... . In the microscope you may see small spheres sometimes stuck
together.
You may try to find a correlation between the amount of those dusts and the
activity of the main meteors showers.
Is this your method ?
I think that an astro club in Noumea tried to do that but I don't know the
result.
The main problem for us is that the city of Noumea has a rather big
activity in nickel ore transformation into nickel-iron blend so we
sometimes have lots of dusts (parts of are magnetics) in the air
