There is a good article in the current Newsweek ( or Time? ) which reports
a mounting scientific challenge to the initial Martian meteorite
"micro-fossils". The article says that the supposed life traces could have
been caused by geological processes and there are studies on PAHs dating
back to the 1800s.  It seems to me that there is now enough of a challenge
to the initial Martian meteorite that "life on Mars" may be knocked back
into the inconclusive/doubtful category.  More will be reported from the
March meeting of planetary scientists in Houston.---Tom Ashcraft
