(meteorobs) Re: Asteroids and meteors

Actually Jonathan, you might be a little too sure here.
To say that meteors haver nothing to do with asteroids is a bit too strong.
The Geminids are associates with asteroid (3200) Phaethon, which while it
might indeed be a degassed comet nucleus, is an asteroid at this point in
time.. The alpha-Capricornids may be associated with (2101) Adonis. And
almost certainly, some of the showers with unknown parent bodies have links
to some asteroids.
And most fireballs (which are after all meteors) are of asteroidal
rock, rather than cometary material, or they would not survive intact to
the ground.
So while in general you may be right, to say meteors have NOTHING to
do with asteroids is a bit too broad.
Just being picky....that's my job :->

NO! there you go. asteroids have nothing to do with meteors.

Description:

Meteoroid:A piece of rock floating in space(not an asteroid)
Meteor:A rock that is completely burned up in the planet's atmosphere
and create radio warps and a visible streak of light
Meteorite:A meteoroid that survived falling to a planet's surface an
impacts

Understand now?
