Trond, I understand your concern with the "off-topic" posts to the list
lately. I think we've mostly been pretty good about limiting them to just
Hale-Bopp, but  even that of course is not really "meteors". Still, as Tom
points out, comets are about as close to meteors as you can get.

And we should keep in mind that Hale-Bopp is probably a once-in-a-lifetime
event for many of us: once H-B starts to fade from our skies, and the meteor
showers of late Spring and Summer come around, the list will refocus.

Tom, thanks for your post too! That's the most interesting reason for
getting into meteor observing that I've heard so far! Real Agent Mulder
stuff. :) Is your background in biology or epidemiology?
