(meteorobs) ?: Comet detail nomenclature

Sunday morning March 9, 1997

I woke up later than usual this morning but was delighted to see Hale-Bopp
in the 5:30 am twilight sky. Even though the sky was bright Hale-Bopp
revealed a lot of detail in the telescope. A few days ago I thought the
prominent arcs in front of the comet were "bow shock wavefronts" but they
seem to orient slightly away from directly sunwards. So would these be
"parabolic ejecta hoods"?

Gary K, thanks for pointing me to ESO's web page. It is excellent.
