(meteorobs) Meteor Spectra Anniversary 1897-1997
This year, 1997, is the anniversary of the first photographic meteor
spectrum. The first meteor spectrum was secured by chance, in 1897 by
Pickering at Harvard College Observatory during a routine stellar
spectrographic patrol program. Earlier attempts were made to visually
observe meteor spectra by A.S. Herschel in 1864.
