Re: (meteorobs) Astroscan and Meteors

Hi, Ron. With regard to finding telescopic chart fields for meteor observing
with the AstroScan, it CAN be a pain. (Note he carefully keeps it on-topic.
;>) But with a little ingenuity (very little) and a total outlay of $0.50, I
found a solution: All you need is a strip of velcro (both sides, of course),
and a small section of plastic tubing - even black PVC tube will do. The key
is that it's small (say 0.25" ID or so) and light (not metal).

Attach a strip of female velcro to the sphere of the AstroScan, at any
convenient point on the circular area of the sphere which is FURTHEST from
the light path. Then wrap the male velcro around the little section of PVC
tube. You can then set up the AstroScan in seconds, point it at a convenient
bright ground object, and stick the PVC tube onto the velcro on the
AstroScan - oriented so you can see the target object through it.

Instant finder!
