this is a topic that has been discussed in meteorobs intensively some
months ago. This is why I do not want to repeat everything again. Instead,
I think it is much better if I give you a number of links where you can
read about this stuff in the web. If there are still questions left
afterwards you should post them again.
* check out the meteorobs archive at
http://www.tiacdot net/users/lewkaren/meteorobs/maillist.html
Maybe the video postings are still there. If not, I'll browse through my
personal mail folders and repost the contribution.
* visit the IMO homepage for video observers at http://www.imodot net/video
Here you find a brief introduction into this area together with links to
papers and articles on video work available in the web, and a number of
examples of what has been done so far.
* in the last WGN issue we pubished an article named 'Video Observations
of Meteors: History, Current Status and Future Prospects' which is
certainly a good intro into this area, too. The article is available in
the web at http://www.snafudot de/~smo/meteore/status.html
* especially interesting for you will be
http://sunkl.asudot cas.cz/stork/tv_spectra.html The Czech guys from Ondrejov
observatory have been using image intensified video to record meteor
spectra for quite a while. To my knowledge, they are currently the only
group in the world doing this kind of observation.
I hope this help.
Best wishes, Sirko
