(meteorobs) May 5/6 eta Aquarids...slow
My Eta Aquarid results for May 5/6, 1997
My first night of eta aquarid meteor observations was completed this morning.
From 1 am to 4:50 am, I plotted 37 meteors. My first eta aquarid was recorded
at 3:18 am though the radiant was up for about 45 minutes. My total eta
aquarids stood at 10 by dawn....with 9 being recorded during the last hour.
My skies were clear and LM averaged near 6.0 from my Descanso, Calif.
observatory. My brightest eta aquarid was +1. My brightest meteor was a nice
long -3 sporadic...of which I may have photographed a segment. Overall,
this was my slowest eta aquarid activity during dark skies and a peak nite.
Hopefully tomorrow morning I will have better activity?
