(meteorobs) Fireball Report

Hey guys...here is a fireball report that was posted on aol's bulletin board
today.
George Zay
---------------

Subj: Fireball 5/8/97 9:48pm EST
Date: 97-05-08 22:11:25 EDT
From: SpiffyJoe

I was on my way over to a neighbors house. As I walked out my door, I glanced
around to see how the sky was doing (still a little blue from sunset). Out of
the Southwest, a bright fireball, aprox. -6, or -7 in magnitude, started a 5
second trail across the sky (seconds meaning, time it was visible). It moved
from the SW, to the horizon passing through Virgo, just below Spica.
So my data is as follows.....

Fireball.
Joe Connolly
Canton, Michigan, USA
Thursday May 8th, 1997 9:48:12pm
Green/Yellow
Moving SW-NE
Mag -6, -7
Duration 6 seconds
Fragmentation visible
No sounds heard.
Passing South of Arcturus in Bootes.

Hope this helps George. If you need more info, you can e-me at
