Well folks...looks like the more paranoid among us last week was right about
these dang spams.
To refresh our collective memory, I think it was Lew Gramer who, after one
particular obnoxious spam, volunteered to reorganize the reflector such that
any postings had to be approved by a human reader before actually being
posted. Lew asked for opinions and some four or five of us said "wait until
it becomes worse", while another couple of us said "go do it NOW before we
are overwhelmed; it's only going to become worse!". Looks to me as if has
indeed suddenly become MUCH worse much more quickly that most of us expected.
I'm tired of seeing these obnoxious ads on OUR reflector; therefore, I now
tell Lew (if that's who it was?), YES! go ahead and make the change you were
talking about so we can once again read of meteors in the sky and not
Russian lady-meteors-in-waiting (yes, there was such an ad on another
reflector to which I subscribe!),
incredible-and-highly-unlikely-ways-of-doubling-my-income-overnight, etc..
