(meteorobs) Aug 4 Observations (Better Late Than Never)

-- [ From: Robert Lunsford * EMC.Ver #2.5.3 ] --

I observed for 4 hours this morning with George Zay from the Descanso
Observatory. Activity was good with 106 meteors been seen under skies
than averaged a limiting magnitude of 6.36. The Perseids are just
beginning to reach the strength of the sporadic background (roughly 10-
15 meteors per hour this time of year). All other showers (except the
South Delta Aquarids) were producing rates of 1 an hour or less. The
SDA's averaged 3 per hour this morning. Nothing exceptional was seen and
the only odd feature of the session was a dip in the sporadic rate
during my second hour. One would expect sporadic rates to increase
slightly as the night progressed.
