You see fireballs:

*Not very often
*When you're looking up
*When it's dark, unless it's a really, really bright one
*More often during meteor showers like the Leonids, Geminids, Perseids,
Taurids, Orionids, etc... but you could watch all night during these
showers and still not see any.

*More often during evening twilight near the spring equinox, according to
some reports

*Whenever they choose to make an appearance!
