I would feel that speed would be the main criteria. Most large
satellites would require in excess of 5 seconds to completely
disintegrate. Fireballs, which enter the atmosphere at a much higher
velocity usually disintegrate within 5 seconds.

Color no relation between the two.

Satellites do not possess the velocity to produce a train.
