If they were digitized, would not the
larger size also mean larger image files? Thus slower loading time by a web
browser, especially for those without high-speed connections?

That's true Mark. My NJAA webmaster and I have discussed some
processing programs that can reduce the bit count, and as soon as I meet
with him, we'll try it with a digitized Atlas BRNO chart with the LM areas
marked. Then we'll see how big the file is!
