(meteorobs) Re Observations Sth Tau, Orionids, Pup Velids 2nd Oct 1997

Reporting some observations made a few nights ago at one of our country
observing sites. Rates were good as were the Southern Taurids. The
Puppid Velid comples also presented a few meteors for us.
Two observers, myself and a friend Roger Vodicka each observed for 4
hours (8 in tot) for an Teff of 7.65h. I saw a total of 57 meteors,
Roger a total of 51 meteors. I recorded 8 Sth Tau, 1 Nth Tau, 5 Pup Vel
and 2 Orionids. Roger Vodicka recorded 9 Sth Tau, 1 Nth Tau, 3 Pup
Velids and 2 Orionids. Also monitored were two minor streams at various
times of the night. The Alpha Eridanids - 0, Alpha Pegasids - 0 and the
Rho Cetids - 0. The best meteor for the night was a 0 mag yellow/green
Sth Taurid traveling N - S, slow - med speed and smokey in appearance.
Great meteor. Results below:

Observations For Roger Vodicka:
Time UT Teff LM STA NTA ORI PV SPO TOT
12.35-13.35 1.00 +6.4 0.5 0.5 0 0 5 6

Please also note, it is standard procedure to record a meteor as half of
each of a radiant if the meteor intersects both radiants like the
Taurids and the angular velocity id acceptable.

Hope to observe tonight so long as it stays clear.
Untill then, Adam Marsh ASVMS

PS this is a repost, I forgeto the date in the Subject......
