(meteorobs) Daylight Cygnus

To All,

Here is some Cygnus data that was obtained today, via radio forward scatter
technique for the ALPO monthly report:

Nov 3, 1997 UTD
2300-2400 UT
                                 EVENT DURATION
Time of 0.5 second 0.5 to 3.0 sec 3 sec or more
Observation or less
2300-2320 5 3 1 (12 sec) 9
2320-2340 4 6 0 10
2340-2400 0 3 1 (5 sec) 4
Event Total= 23

This data indicates that there was little possibility of radiant
activity occuring during this period, at 1500-1600 LST.

However, it may be noted that event activity appeared normal during the
first two 20 minute segments, but decreased drastically in the last
segment. This decrease may be (?) attributed to the fact that Cygnus was
moving out of the optimum 30-60 degree elevation observing zone at this
time. If this hypothesis is acceptable, then there may be a possibility
that there was a small degree of radiant activity present, but was lost at
2340 UT due to radiant elevation. NOTE: This should be considered a very
slim possibility.
