a few years ago there appeared a three paragraph piece in the new york times
that i'll never forget. it went something like this...
an american airline's flight made an emergency landing after a passenger who
was sitting over the wing noticed a oblong gash through the wing and advised
the crew of the same. the passenger insisted that the hole was not in the
wing at the time of takeoff as he was intermittently gazing over the wing
for quite some interval and had noticed nothing irregular.
that's it.
at least as far as what the media presented for our consideration, the
meteorite-impact theory regarding flight 800 received, regrettably, scant
attention.
