The sky was completely overcast through midnight. There was some
clearing in the west at 1am but still 75% of the sky was obscured. This
was reduced to 50% at 2am. I started to get ready to go out only to
discover that the cloudcover was getting worse. At this, I called it a
night and gave up.

Naturally when I woke at 5am to go to work it was perfectly clear but I
doubt if it was clear long as the clouds loomed on all horizons. By 6am
it was nearly overcast again.

It is nearly 100% clear at sunset so if it remains that way I will
attempt to see what is left over from the Ursids later on during the
morning hours of the 23th.
