Re: (meteorobs) Asteroids TV program



Last night on NBC they had a nice program on asteriod impacts and Earth,
they said that for a rocket with a nuclear device to deflect the asteroid
we would need a few months or years notice, and it would be impossible
to launch a rocket now if one was heading towards us.

 Why?  I'm sure the USSR and USA have rockets that could be put on standby
in case of a real problem and launched...with all our so-called
modern technology it could be done, or is it just talk?
