don't be so polemic! :-)
I did not tell that I don't believe in statistics. However, one of basic
terms of statistics is significance. Statistics and probability
theory can only make reliable predictions, if you have a number of
observations that is statistically significant. Probability theory tells 
you that it is complete nonsense, if you interfer from *one* event in
*several millions years* a kind of annual casualty rate.

PS: One more funny thing regarding this type of nonsense: The casualty
rate is increasing year by year! Once Earth is inhabited by 12 billion
humans, there casualty has grown to to 40/year...
