Hi, JoAnne: can you give any more details of what you saw: where were you 
located, what direction were you facing, how fast did it seem to move, how far 
did it move in the sky, how bright was it relative to other sky objects?

It's possible you saw a fireball, or a meteorite-producing fireball, or even an 
artificial satellite flash or reentry: only more data would allow us to help 
you figure out which.
