Re: FWD: (meteorobs) Introduction

Hello Clive. This is a blast from the past. I remember seeing lots
of your observations in "Meteoros"/JAS Circulars in the 1970s.
Welcome back! There are still a few of us left from that era.

Indeed the UK skies are much worse than in the 1970s even in rural
areas. Driving between Oxfordshire and Edinburgh a few times this
year, I noticed that you have to drive beyond Preston to escape the
light pollution. Have you tried the North Yorkshire moors? Dark, but
perhaps too cloudy and too far? How about the Cheshire countryside?
You do have to be dedicated to drive tens of miles to observe,
especially if you have to work the following morning. ` Mobile
astronomy' doesn't seem to happen much in the UK, unlike in the USA.

If you get the meteor bug back, you might want to consider video
observation too.

Clear skies in Ireland. The weather must improve soon. These leaden
skies and snow are becoming wearisome.
