Re: (meteorobs) Another question

My question is. The radiant is the point in which the trails come
from? Therefore since the meteor shower is now the Lyrids, trails
would come from Lyra?<<
My opinion is that the Lyrids are barely Lyrids....they are almost Herculids.
The Lyrid radiant on max night is roughly half way between Vega and the
rectangular formation of Hercules with a little more towards Vega....then
about 5 degrees to the South from that Vega/Hercules line.
>>There were quite a few meteors from around the right of Lyra, would
these classify as Lyrids??<<
Sounds like you might be describing the Lyrid radiant....Yes I would most
likely classify these as Lyrids.
>>Also, clarrification, the trails come from or go to Lyra??<<
I assume you are referring to the prominent area of the Lyra constellation
with Vega. In this case, Lyrids can appear to be coming from Lyra with some
very short meteors going towards Lyra in a very small area.
