(meteorobs) TSP Meteor Reviews: Wonderful Weather
1. The Lyrids produced a nice display. My VCR input contact broke so I got
none recorded. Electronics are a pain sometimes. Of course that was the
same recorder I was using for the fireball prototype in my back yard and for
oculations.
2. Dr. Frank reported that the meteors causing the upper atmosphere water "holes"
should be visible before sunrise, and after sunset about tenth magnitude. He just /
finally finished looking at the latest satellite data.
3. I stopped at the UFO museum on the way home and it occurs to me that
some of the unusual sightings reported might be some of these fluffy meteors
causing ice clouds, and moving spots as they break up then hit the atmosphere.
4. Another of the speakers showed how one can digitize negatives to improve on
marginal photos. That might be a good thing to improve some margingal meteor
photos. There are comercial services that will do it now. You do not need to own
expensive or unreliable hardware.
5. The conjunction was also nice but off topic...
