Here's the update on my eta Aquarid observations. This morning (May 6)
produced 37 etas in 2.0 hours, 17 in the first hour and 20 in the second.
Mean eta magnitude was 2.54. Brightest were two mag 0 etas. This activity
under the given conditions gives the highest ZHR so far for the 1998
campaign, in line with Norman's comments, though in previous years I've
often observed highest rates from here on May 5, and once on May 3.

May 5/6 0130-0330 2.00 5.85 37 4 0 13 54

I'll be able to observe until the morning of May 8 (two more mornings)
without moon interference, and weather permitting. That's starting to look
a bit iffy, with an approaching frontal system, which already introduced
some prefrontal high cloud this afternoon.
