Re: (meteorobs) Re: Information request.

Hi Eddie,

You might also want to check a the following WEBsite (one of my favorite NET
destination):

                http://home.wxsdot nl/~dms-web/

It is home to Dutch Meteor Society and there you will find a wealth of
extremely interseting stuff... very elegantly laid out... Everything from meteor
shower info to meteor video analysis. (there are downloadable video clips of
fireballs) I was just re-watching the 4 DMS-obtained fireball video clips from
last years LEONIDs.. very cool!

Lastly, there are a few regular meteor observers in San Diego (me for one, Im
in LaJolla)... Also here in SD, the Interational Meteor Organization's North
American Liason... a Mr Robert (Bob) Lunsford. We are all on the meteorsobs
list.

Re: good viewing sites. I watched last years LEONIDS from LaJolla inder
unuaslly clear skies and saw lots of meteors but it's best to head to the
mountains for best viewing. Mt Laguna is my favorite spot.

Hi, Eddie, and thanks for the note!

You'll get many other responses, I'm sure - and maybe some in your local area.
But to get you started, try taking a look at the Web site:
        http://medicine.wustldot edu/~kronkg
and in particular the North American Meteor Network pages:
        http://medicine.wustldot edu/~kronkg/namn.html

In case you don't have Web access, following is a list of 1998's "officially
recognized" meteor showers, along with their peak and active dates. (Every
shower slowly ramps up for days or weeks, before reaching maximum intensity on
one or more nights, then slowly ramping down again.)

If you DO have Web access, you'll find out much more about this list of showers
from the Web site of the International Meteor Organization:
        http://www.imodot net
and in particular their 1998 Meteor Calendar:
        http://www.imodot net/calendar/cal98.html

Clear skies!
