The FAA individual in duty received several calls, inscluding several reports relayed from the 911 dispatcher for Beauregard Parish. The indiicual did not see it himself. Another FAA employee reported hearing a sound similar to a "sonic boom" which was loud enough to rattle pictures hanging on the wall....and similar to sounds coming from nearby Fort Polk, when large artillery is fired. The FAA employee on duty surmised that the impact was "west of Rosepine" (about 5 miles north of DeRidder). Several sheriff units searched the (heavily forested) area to in western Beauregard Parish, in the belief they were looking for a possible plane crash. When hearing the sighting was observed in southeastern Texas as well, the local search was discontinued. - That is about all that I am personally aware of. Ashley
