Re: (meteorobs) 1st Attempts at logging data, QUESTIONS
That is a good sequence, Kevin!
Another that may come in handy late in an August session (or for meteors low
down to the horizon): Capella at 0 and Aldebaran around 1, of course. Alpheratz
and Mirak (alpha & beta And) are good standard 2s (so is Hamal - alpha Ari,
though someone told me it's variable?). Beta Tri is a reference 3, while Gamma
Tri is a good 4 (Double, but I don't find it a problem.)
I've also used George's mag 5 star near Draco's "Eyes", as well the "three
corners" Alpha, Beta & 6 Equulei - good standard 4, 5 and 6 stars respectively!
Anybody else have good reference stars to share? Cathy taught me a good
reference pair in Aquila during the last night (and ONLY good observing night)
of the NAMN Conference: the pretty pair of stars in the Eagle's NW wing are a
good standard 3 and standard 4. Thanks, Cath!
Clear skies,
Lew
