(meteorobs) Observation Report Perseids Aug 13/14

I saw what I consider, imho, the biggest WOW since the mid eighties.
Around 11PM EDT, I saw the brightest meteorite that I've seen in a long
time. With the little bit of what I read from the NAMN home page, I'd
say it was a 1 in velocity and really bright. Haven't read about
brightness, yet. I saw 3 sporadics, 1 went throgh Casseopia, 1 was
straight up and the last through Pegasus. It was exciting.
I set up in a corn field in Cumberland Co New Jersey, just off Rt
55. I started viewing about 930PM EDT. Nothing much happened; had a
great view of Ursa Major and Virgo & watched Saturn rise in the east.
Severeal banks of clouds appeared but the biggest problem was the planes
going into Atlantic City International Airport. They were constant. It
drove me crazy, out of the corner of my eye. Plus the light dome from
AC was bright and it reflected off the clouds. I thought I saw a
satellite, but couldn't be sure with all the plane traffic.
I hope someone else can verify what I saw. That's the best I can
do, for now. I've got a lot to learn. My wife couldn't be with me
tonight. She has to get up at 445AM EDT, so she went to bed and she
really wasn't too thilled to be where we were yesterday. She worries
about me with some medical problems I have.
I've printed out a lot of stuff to read including most of your
messages. ttfn
