(meteorobs) Re: Leonids and Draconids

Howdy, Mike, and thanks for the note. I don't *know* whether you heard about us
on NPR: I did hear just yesterday that one of our subscribers (Jim Bedient) was
interviewed by the folks from that fine radio program "Earth & Sky" - and he
apparently mentioned the list! :)

As for the upcoming *POSSIBLE* meteor storms, there are actually three of them!
The first is this October 7-10, from the highly variable periodic meteor shower
called the "Draconids" (because they appear to trace back to or radiate from
the constellation Draco in the North). No one knows whether they will storm or
not, nor where the storm might be seen from!

Next this November 16 and 17 is the annual shower called the Leonids (again,
they seem to trace back to Leo the Lion). They MAY produce a storm over the
longitude of Central China this year - or maybe someplace else! The only way to
tell for sure is to watch...

Last, the Leonids have ANOTHER chance to storm next November 16 and 17: again,
there are predictions for it to occur over Europe, but who knows?

As I recently mentioned on the list, I've now put out a Web page on this very
subject. It has some basic info, and pointers to more info on the Web!

Clear skies!
