They are indeed, Wes! In fact, for a long period of time I would bemoan what I 
called "Deep Sky Guilt" to the folks here on our list: I'd be out under a 
beautiful, dark sky, and just couldn't tear myself away from the starry 
eyepiece to do serious meteor observing.

A funny thing happens though, after you've spent some time with your own Big 
Dob. You start to realize the Deep Sky will always be there waiting for you. 
But meteors, they change every night - as Wayne Hally so aptly told the crowd 
in his talk at the Canadian "Starfest" last weekend. :>

The show you see - and the data you gather - on any given night may be unique 
in your lifetime. There's just no way to tell: for when we observe meteors, we 
really are embarking on a discovery!

Many clear hours to you, with BOTH the eyepiece and the lawnchair. :)
