Hey, Gregg - it's great to have someone with a flare for astrometrical math on 
the list! You're interest and skill are a welcome complement to those of us who 
don't like numbers much (e.g. theoretical math majors! ;>)

I'm still confused by one thing, though: why isn't solar longitude 180 degrees different from the sun's ecliptical longitude?? This seems to imply that Solar Longitude (as distinct from Heliocentric Longitude??) uses *Autumnal* Equinox as its origin! Otherwise, the earth-as-seen-from-sun angle is exactly opposite (180o shifted) from the sun-as-seen-from-earth angle.
