(meteorobs) Fireballs
Michael,
It seems that September and October have been very rich in fireballs
lately. Actually at this date (9/20) this activity has nothing to do
with the Draconids and Leonids. The Draconid stream is very narrow as
the Earth passes through then entire stream in only 4 days. The
Leonids are a bit wider as activity lasts a full week. It is most
likely that this activity is caused by the higher than normal
sporadic rates this time of year and/or activity from the ecliptic
streams located in Pisces and Aries. These ecliptic streams are noted
for producing some bright and colorful fireballs.
