(meteorobs) September 16/17 1998 observation
On September 16/17, I observed almost 4 hours from my usual dark
site near Casselman. Under a limiting magnitude that reached 6.55
at times near zenith, I counted a total 44 meteors (6 September
Perseids (Delta Aurigids), 2 Piscids and the rest were sporadics.
One faint +5 sporadic of average speed aligned reasonably well with
the possible Triangulum radiant. Also, a very fast +2 sporadic at
8:06 UT left a one second train, and seemed to line up with the
Sigma Orionid radiant. I plotted 15 meteors, including those that
aligned with the active radiants. Brightest meteor was a yellow SPI
of mag -1 that moved 20 degrees. Also interesting was an orange
mag +1 sporadic with 2 sec train.
