(meteorobs) Fireball Oct. 18, 1998 0315 UT
While walking back from the Hottub, without my wristwatch or eyeglasses
(Bummer)
saw a fireball, about the Magnitude and size of Jupiter. (What is the mag of
Jupiter?)
My location about 117 W 37 N, Irvine Calif. USA, from VERY light polluted
skies.
First appeared just below and right of Jupiter, arcing down and slightly to
the right along a path that would have passed very close, but just to the left
of Fomalhaut. This meteor disappeared just as it was approaching Fomalhaut.
Aprox 2015 Local time, 10/17/98.
Moderate to fast speed, Bright white, Perhaps slightly blue. Bright train
lasting 1-1.5 seconds. Short but sweet. No fragmentation seen, Nor sounds
heard..will report to FIDAC.
