Sounds like you've seen some BODACIOUS displays of your own, Wes!

My highest hourly rates for Aug 11/12 1996, for instance, under skies
with an average limiting magnitude of 7.25 (in the Florida Keys), was
only 43 Perseids and 67 meteors total one hour, and then 45 PERs and
58 total during a later hour! Obviously, there may be differences in
our perceptions - or maybe a very narrow peak in the 1996 PERs?

BTW, if anyone else knows of hourly rates of 300 observed in the US
for the Geminids in recent history, as Wes mentions, please describe
them to the list! That sounds like it would have been a major event.
