(meteorobs) Leonids Electrophonic Sounds
Has anyone had any thoughts on an electrophonic sound project for the Leonids ?
Our section has designed and intends on building a detector based on current understanding of how
the phenomena may work.
We plan to use a combination of sensitive directional microphones underneath a series of curved
metal sheets in the hope we may be able to pick up some sound from the brightest Leonids fireballs
and bolides. The recording equipment will be synched with our own observations time wise so if we
get any sounds we will know which fireball produced it.
We feel this will be the best opportunity to get a high flux of fireballs to suit this sort of
project.
If anyone has any ideas, please let me know, I would be glad to hear them.
They will make our job easier and may help the project work.
