(meteorobs) Leonid article

Hello!

The following article has been ACCEPTED last week:

M. Langbroek: 'Leonid Outburst Activity 1996: A Broad Structure and a
First Occurrence of a Narrow Peak of Fainter Meteors'

To appear in 'Meteoritics & Planetary Science' Vol. 34 (early 1999).

An abstract will probably be available in a week or two from the MAPS
website: http://www.uarkdot edu/meteor

The paper focussus on the presence of two separate activity structures in
the 1996 Leonid activity profile, and most notably the presence of a
narrow peak of faint meteors on top of a broad bright background activity
structure. The behaviour of this peak over 1996-1997 suggests that the
1998-1999 storms will occur (just) BEFORE passage through the node of
P/Tempel-Tuttle.
