RE: (meteorobs) Oct 20/21B 1998 fireball report



I missed the original post somehow.  The trail could be persistence illuminated
by the Sun if the Sun is up at altitude.

Is that possible?    I can't remember ever hearing of such a slow fireball...
how would someone distinguish such an observation from a flare?   & If this
was a fireball how is it that one manages to pass so slowly through the
atmosphere while still generating enough frictional energy to be luminous?
