Fireball Identity: Unknown---Possibly Leonid?

Observing N.Taurid shower when I noticed a very bright flash out of the
corner of my eye. Noticed an area of the sky illuminated by a white flash
low to the eastern horizon as if something exploded. Flash lasted 4-5 secs
and was followed approx. 2 secs later by a muffled rumbling noise lasting
approx.1 sec.
No apparent path noted, since first observed out of the corner of my eye.
Skies quite clear with limiting magnitude of 5.8, however, light diffuse
glow along eastern horizon.
Quite Strange!
