Subject: Meteor Balloon Set for Launch

Dear Star Trailers:

More details about the meteor balloon flight scheduled for Saturday April,
10 may be found at this URL:

Meteor Balloon Set for Launch
http://science.nasadot gov/newhome/headlines/ast08apr99_1.htm

We invite all Star Trails members to count visual meteors on the evening of
the flight. Even though few visual meteors are expected, your counts will
be valuable to the scientists conducting this research. Additional
information about how to observe may be found at
http://startrails.com/sporadics.html

In my earlier message I mentioned that the counts should take place
"between about 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. local time." Several members have asked,
Did I mean the observer's local time or the balloon's local time? The
correct answer is the observer's local time, not the balloon's. We're
looking for counts obtained between sunset and 10 p.m. at locations around
the globe, as opposed to counts obtained strictly during the balloon's
flight. So, simply go outside after sunset and that's the right time to
begin.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Regards, Tony Phillips
